In conjunction with Borneo Games and Animation Festival 2026, join our 5-day Unreal Engine workshop where you will learn, build, and complete your own playable game using Unreal Engine. Conducted by EFXCO Academy.
Building on the Unreal Engine foundational skills introduced in 2024 and the motion design training delivered in 2025 at TEGAS Digital Village, we bring you the 2026 Unreal Engine for Games module.
This specialised programme focuses on the core mechanics of game design and development, guiding Sarawak’s creative talent from visual content creation into interactive and playable experiences. Through this progression, participants will not only learn to create digital content but also understand the technology and logic behind real-time game development.
By mastering Unreal Engine’s game development workflows, participants will develop versatile skills that can support future opportunities in the games, animation, interactive media, and real-time content industries.

Unreal Engine is one of the world’s leading real-time creation tools for games, animation, virtual production, and interactive experiences. For this workshop, participants will learn how to use Unreal Engine not just as a visual tool, but as a complete game development platform, from building environments and creating gameplay mechanics to producing a playable project. Its industry-proven features, high-quality visuals, and flexible workflow make it an ideal engine for students and creatives who want to move into the games and interactive media industry.
DATES: 10th to 14th AUGUST
VENUE: TEGAS DIGITAL VILLAGE, KUCHING
DURATION: 5 FULL DAYS
TIME: 9AM to 5PM


Participants will learn how to start a game project in Unreal Engine, understand the interface, organise project files, and prepare the basic structure needed for a playable game.
Participants will build a simple 3D game environment using assets, lighting, materials, and layout techniques to create a playable space that looks visually engaging.
Participants will learn how to set up a playable character, including movement, camera control, navigation, and basic player interaction within the game world.
Participants will use Unreal Engine’s Blueprint visual scripting system to create simple game mechanics, triggers, objectives, scoring, and interactive events without needing advanced coding.
Participants will add basic user interface elements, sound effects, visual feedback, and simple gameplay polish to make the game feel more complete and responsive.
By the end of the workshop, participants will package their project into a simple playable game prototype that they can continue developing or use as part of their creative portfolio.
This workshop is open to Sarawakians (ONLY) who are interested in learning game development using Unreal Engine.
Basic computer skills, comfort using Windows, interest in games, Basic 3D knowledge helpful but not compulsory.
Selected participants will learn the core workflow of creating a playable game in Unreal Engine 5. By the end of the workshop, you will complete a simple playable game prototype.
Must bring own laptop or PC (no Macs) with these specific requirements.
This workshop is fully subsidised by TEGAS. Successful registrations will be informed via email.

Yes, certification of completion will be provided at the end of the workshop.
